I’ve pulled the information below from a post on another list by Brigadier General Bruce O’Brien who is the current Commandant of the SFMC.
“…Although I may be stealing some of the thunder from ForceCom and their usual reporting functions, I would also like to make point to membership numbers.
“In January 2011, the SFMC had a recorded membership of of 982 members – 511 Active; 471 Reservists – representing 23% of total STARFLEET International membership At time of writing, this figure has increased to? 1,134 Marines – 573 Active; 561 Reservists – now representing 25% of total STARFLEET International membership.
“What this shows is that we have not only increased membership numbers (pretty much in line with increased STARFLEET International membership) but that we have also achieved the 25% total membership target set back in January 2011.
“Any way you look at it, this means the Corps continues to expand and that we certainly remain an attractant to new members….”
Being the Officer In Charge of the 888th Marine Strike Group (SFMC) as well as the Officer In Charge of the 17th Brigade SFMC I’ve got to admit that I’m impressed! With Marines totalling a quarter of the overall membership in Starfleet and continuing to grow that’s saying something!
