Tiburon role playing Episode 2: Cat and Mouse

gw259-rpg_trekIn need of repairs and supplies the USS Tiburon heads for Ferengi space. While travelling there they conduct a search of Ambassador’s Gali and Starfleet Engineers Tis quarters. Upon investigation they find a hidden in-house communication between Gali and Tis similar to that experienced from the Trill Warships that attacked the Tiburon. Only a fragment was recovered with one phrase … “Ruins of Nafir”.
The Tiburon heads to Dessica II the site of an ancient Romulan outpost called Nafir. They locate a beacon that uses the same ancient language. When they arrive they send an away team to the planet’s surface. Suddenly a force field surrounds the away team and neutralizes their weapons. They are subsequently taken captive by a man named Michel Fourniret also known as “The Ogre of Coltar IV, a serial killer created by individual adverse effects of the Manheim Effect that drove him mad.
The Away team is brought to what looks like a catacomb entrance and sees a pile of mutilated bodies. They look like they were torn limb by limb. The Away team is then subjected to a deadly Halo Deck challenge called “the Chill Chamber” created by his warped mind. Meanwhile 3 Romulan Warbirds enter orbit around Dessica II and the Tiburon is forced to cloak and evade the intruders. A deadly game of cat and mouse is played in an asteroid belt in the Dessica system.
The Away teams is able to overcome the challenges of the “Chill Chamber” by playing the game well and are able to capture Fourniret in the process. Fourmiet reveals that he was recruited by the Orion syndicate to wait for the arrival of the Tiburon and capture key members of the Tiburon crew and to do whatever he wished. The Warbirds in orbit were to insure that the rest of the crew was taken care of. In a “deal” brokered with the Ogre of Coltar IV, a message was sent to the Romulan ships that the damage to the Tiburon was critical and that they were abandoning ship to the planet’s surface. Fourmiet asks for reinforcements to help eliminate the rest of the crew, the Romulan’s send down an away team. This however was a cleaver ruse as the Away team manipulates Fourmiet’s hologram program, making him believe that it was actually happening. In reality, the Romulan Warbirds and the Tiburon are still locked in their game of cat and mouse in the asteroid field. Using high skill the Tiburon is able to destroy one Warbird and severely cripple another. By manipulating the remaining Warbird’s blind spot, the Tiburon cloaks out of the asteroid belt, enters in orbit on the far side of Dessica II and beam up the away team. With the Tiburon in orbit, the Away team is ready for beam up when Fourmiet says …. “I like you Mako….Seek out the “Kurlan Naiskos”, who is now smiling because he has a group of Romulan’s for the “Chill Chamber”. However, his smile turns to anger as he materializes in the Tiburon’s brig.
