Capturing lightning in a bottle has often been a trend in which movie directors have tried to live up to. Trying to catch it again is even harder to repeat. J.J. Abrams new addition in the Star Trek franchise does not quite catch lighting like its predecessor but it has reignited the warp drive in the spirits of Trek fans. The Face paced action packed film, left some die hard Trek fans with a rather bad taste in their mouth do to the established alternate timeline. Do to the re-imagined version of the films psychopathic villain Khan, and the use of plot points and dialogue used in Star Trek 2’s the Wrath of Khan.  Although the film was not in the prior established style of trek movies, I found that Khans motives, passion and psychopathic nature made him more a horrifying adversary.  It showed the villain in action and what lengths he was willing to go through to achieve his goals.  The pacing of the film was a little rushed and the travel of time of warp was thrown out the window, yet despite the absence it really did not take anything from the story. Perhaps the reuse of original dialogue and a re-imagined death scene seemed a bit sloppy of childish, however It helped solidify the interpersonal relationship between Kirk and Spock as well broke the well-known chain of events in the original time line.  These actions also slowly gave birth to the slow building foundation of friendship between Kirk and Spock, a legendary friend ship trek fans have grown to know and love.
