ds9themissingfullcoverStar Trek Deep Space Nine : The missing.

Life on the New Deep Space Nine hasn’t slowed down any for Captain Ro Laren and her crew, despite the stations rocky commissioning, the assassination of President Bacco, and the discovery of a cure to the Andorians genetic crisis.

Waiting to see what the near by newly reopened Bajoran wormhole will mean to the ever changing political vista of the Alpha quadrant , Captain Ro and her crew are soon drawn into the matters of the visiting People of the Open Sky who have come seeking refuge. Ro and the Station’s new CMO , Beverly Crusher provide aid to the people despite objections from the station’s new security chief. Doctor Crusher’s highly protected files on the Shendi race, the files that hold powerful but not fully understood scientific answers that helped solved the Andorian genetic
calamity are accessed without consent, the people are left as the likely suspects.

As pressure begins to build on Deep Space Nine, the station is soon visited by the Athene Donald, a ship on an exploratory mission with a multi-cultural, multi species crew consisting of chosen representatives from The Klingon empire , The Cardassian Union, The Romulan Star Empire, the Ferengi Alliance and the Tzenkethi Coalition. The innovation of Doctor Katherine Pulaski, her hope is that science can do what diplomacy can not, and that political adversaries can put aside their petty differences and work together for a greater good. Once leaving Deep Space Nine on their journey, they are detained by a powerful unknown vessel. The question arises: Can the crew survive first contact by banding together, or will this encounter tear them apart?

I found it hard to keep interest in the story at times, although there were some parts that were very captivating. Although I was familiar with the characters, and felt invested enough to keep reading to see how things turned out this book although good moved a bit too slow for me.
