Good afternoon everyone, this is Chief Science Officer Jennifer Sontag reporting from the bridge of the USS Tiburon.

This posting will be a little different from the science or away team missions that I have been posting in the past couple of months. I have been privileged enough to be on the Tiburon for their entire ten year mission to explore strange new worlds and to seek out new life forms and to boldly go where no man has gone before (thank you Captain Kirk).

In the ten years I have been aboard, I have seen good friends come and go and one member go to the final frontier. We have gained many friends and allies along the way, too many to count and too many to share without leaving someone out. We can always count on our shipmates if we ever need anything, like someone to help us move, providing support when we are down, lending an ear when we need someone to talk too and to just being there no matter what.

In the past years, we have been involved in many activities both near and far from our home base. We have been to Albuquerque, to help a fellow ship with their toys for tots charity event, down to Houston for the International Conference, and back out east supporting our fellow ships. The USS Tiburon has supported many charities over the last years such as:

feline fixand the Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Alliance.

In the past 10 years I have both grown as a person and a respected member of the USS Tiburon. I have shared ideas and have experiences that I would never have had if i didn’t join this ship. I would still be a shy, retiring person if it weren’t for the USS Tiburon.

I just want to thank Vice Admiral Bran Stimpson and Commodore Christina Sievers for starting this ship 10 years ago, and Fleet Captain Doug Davenport, Fleet Captain Lee Montgomery and  Ensign Chris Swanson for their continuing service on board this ship.

I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years will bring us!

THANKS AGAIN!

Fleet Captain Jennifer Sontag signing off, See you next month!
