A Star Trek Legend Gone: Remembering Gary Graham

Gary Graham, the actor who played Detective Matthew Sikes in the cult classic science fiction series Alien Nation and Ambassador Soval in Star Trek: Enterprise, has died at the age of 73. His ex-wife, actress Susan Lavelle, announced the news on her personal Facebook page on Tuesday, Jan. 23.

“It is with deep profound sadness to say that Gary Graham, my ex-husband, amazing actor and father of our beautiful only child together, Haylee Graham, has passed away today,” she wrote alongside posting a series of photos of Gary.

 His passing was described as “sudden” and unexpected. No cause of death has been released.

 His career spanned over four decades, with roles in a variety of television shows and movies. He is perhaps best known for his work in science fiction, but he also appeared in shows like Starsky and Hutch, The Dukes of Hazzard, and Moonlighting.

In Alien Nation, he played a human police detective who partners with a Tenctonese alien to solve crimes. The show was a critical and commercial success, and his performance was praised for its humor and depth.

In Star Trek: Enterprise, he played Ambassador Soval, a Vulcan who is sent to Earth to oversee the development of humanity. His portrayal of Soval was nuanced and complex, and he quickly became a fan favorite.
